Carlos Sosa smacked his first home run of the year Thursday, putting the Defenders up for good against Portland. The ball easily cleared the Foxwoods sign in right and I don't even want to guess at how much further it went before hitting the ground.
It was a good win; the guys were as loose as they have been in a couple of weeks.
On a side note, the attendance was over 5,000 and I would say every head was accounted for. With fireworks Friday and the rescheduled salute to vets, we may see three consecutive 5,000-plus crowds.

Joe,
Last night was my first opportunity to see McKae and I came away a little disappointed. I hope it was an off night rather then a team catching up to him the 2nd time around. He does have a lethal looking curve, relies on changing speeds, and needs sharp control. Last night the control wasn't terrific and it resulted in him getting smacked around.
Is this assessment fair?

I don't know how much was that Portland had seen him already, but he wasn't sharp and most significantly, he didn't have control.
He hadn't allowed a walk as a Defender until the first inning last night.
